He was born in Oak Park, Uniteds States of América,  in 1899.
When he was joung, he started his career as a journalist.
He participated in the First World War, as volunteer ambulance driver.
When he was on battle, he was seriously hurt.
Due to his condition, he returned to United States, and again began to work as a journalist.
He went to Paris and stablished links with famous contemporary artists, like Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stain.
His participations on the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War as a correspondent, were mainly important to polish his work.
Some of his first novels are "The torrents of spring" and "The sun also rises".
In 1927, he wrote the work called "Man without woman", wich includes the story "The killers".
In this tale, he sarted becoming famous as a story writer.
His style to write is based on short dialogs with suspense.
Another stories made in the same way are "The snows of Kilimanjaro" and "Hills like White Elephants".
The most part of his works talks about the idea of an Hero, with a restricted code of honor, facing the death.
Thats why ,often, his main characters are boxers, soldiers, hunters, etc.
His novels were, though, his best and most knowed work.
"To have and have not", " For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "The old man and the Sea" are some of his most importants novels.
He won the Literature Novel Prize in 1954, rising to the top of his career.
Sadly and suddenly, he ended his life with a blast of a hunting shotgun.
One of his famous quotes says " A man can be destroyed but not defeated".
